Drill music is a Chicago-based subgenre of current rap. From Brixton to the rest of the country, it has spread since 2012. An foreboding beat, haunting melody, and dreadful lyrics characterize this type of music.
It has a strong attraction to young people who grew up in underprivileged neighborhoods because of its roots in London's inner city. Communities that are otherwise underrepresented have a way to express themselves through this medium.
