Think of a problem in your community that you would like to help solve. Write a persuasive letter to the editor of your local or regional newspaper in which you attempt to do the following:
Describe the problem
Propose a solution
Offer an opposing viewpoint
Offer an argument that rebuts the opposing viewpoint
Give a call to action
You may offer both emotional and logical appeals in your letter. Keep your tone formal and polite. Check other sources if you are not sure how to format a business letter. You do not have to actually mail your letter to the paper.
Complete your assignment in a separate document and submit when done.
