To find area of first figure:

As it is given in question shaded shape is made by joining a square and a rhombus. It is clearly visible that the first figure is square.
[tex] \\ [/tex]
So to find Area of a Square:-
We know :-
Area of square = side²
[tex] \\ [/tex]
So:-
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢ Area of square = side²
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢ Area of square = side × side
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢ Area of square = 5 × 5
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢ Area of square = 25 cm²
[tex] \\ [/tex]
Therefore Area of first figure is equal to 25 cm²
[tex] \\ [/tex]
To find area of second figure:
[tex] \\ [/tex]
So we have find area of square and now as in question given next shape is rhombus.
[tex] \\ [/tex]
There are two Formulas of rhombus :
- Area of rhombus = (Digonal 1 × Diagonal 2)/2
- Area of rhombus = Base × Height
[tex] \\ [/tex]
We have to use second formula as Digonals aren't given :
⇢ Area of rhombus = Base × Height
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢Area of rhombus = 4.5 × 5
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢Area of rhombus = (45 × 5)/10
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢Area of rhombus = (45 × 1)/2
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢ Area of rhombus = 45/2
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢ Area of rhombus = 22.5 cm²
[tex] \\ [/tex]
Therefore Area of first figure is equal to 22.5 cm²
[tex] \\ [/tex]
Area of whole shaded figure:
⇢A = Area of first figure + Area of second figure
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢ A = 25 + 22.5
[tex] \\ [/tex]
⇢ A = 47.5 cm²
[tex] \\ [/tex]
Therefore Area of whole shaded figure is equal to 47.5 cm².
