It might be said that even thought people thought this period was " "prudish, hypocritical, stuffy, old fashioned ,and narrow-minded", it might not be totally accursed because it is considered a period of peace and prosperity for Britain. the middle class increase in power and number and they aspired to become part of the nobility.
