You are going to write the body paragraph for an explanatory essay about The Odyssey. The introduction paragraph has already been written, and it explains how the character Odysseus is a good example of a hero in epic literature. Read the introduction paragraph before you continue. Human beings have told stories about heroes since ancient times. Heroes represent what is good, fair, and just to the cultures that tell these stories and pass them on to future generations. Homer, in the section of The Odyssey titled "In the One-Eyed Giant's Cave," portrays Odysseus as a heroic figure by emphasizing the traits readers might admire, especially his commitment to his homeland and his bravery in the face of challenges.

Odysseus went through all of these different challenges in the book “The Odyssey”. First he had to beat a war, then he had to battle a one eyed man eating cyclops, which then he kills. The cyclops was actually Poseidon’s son so Poseidon gets mad and decides to release all of his rage and wrath onto Odysseus and his crew to make it so that Odysseus doesn’t get home in time. Odysseus gets blown off course and all of these other crazy things happen due to one mistake that Odysseus made, which angered Poseidon. Odysseus finally gets home in time so that his wife wouldn’t be remarried to another man.
