Caral is an ancient city located in Peru. In the year 2001, The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated the city as the oldest city in the America.

  It is located near the Supe valley, and hence the name Caral-Supe. According to archaeologist, the sacred city of Caral-supe  dates back to the late Archaic Period of the Central Andes.

The ancient city of Caral is believed to have been  constructed between 3000-1800 BC, which coincides within the same time frame as the the works of the Ancient Egyptians and Mesopotamians.
