The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is the body responsible for reviewing Psychological research related to humans while the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) carries the responsibility for reviewing the experimental proposals, psychological and other forms of research relating to animal subjects.

Who are those who make up the IACUC and the IRB?

The IACUC consists of scientists, veterinarians, and community members as well as institutional administrators.

The IRB on the other hand consists of at least five members with different backgrounds. At any time, they must have at least one scientist, one member whose primary concerns are nonscientific as well as a member who is a community representative.
