Baroreceptors are "monitors" in your arteries that monitor your blood pressure. They signal the heart to change in response to high or low blood pressure to keep the pressure within normal blood pressure ranges. This is an example of which of these? A. an elite feedback loop

Baroreceptor reflex

Baroreceptors are pressure sensors located in the walls of the carotid sinus and aortic arch. They transmit blood pressure information to the cardiovascular vasomotor centers in the brainstem.

Information captured by carotid sinus baroreceptors is transported to the brainstem through the carotid sinus nerve, and information from the aortic arch is transported through the vagus nerve.

After ascending to the brainstem, the information is integrated in the medulla, in the nucleus of the solitary tract. The bull will direct changes in the activity of various cardiovascular centers.

The parasympathetic efferent flow will exert a decrease in heart rate. Sympathetic flow has four functions:

  • Effect on the SA node (increasing heart rate)
  • Effect on heart muscle (increasing contractility and stroke volume)
  • Effect on arterioles (producing vasoconstriction and increasing TPR)
  • and Effect on veins (producing venoconstriction).

With this information, we can conclude that baroreceptors have an elite feedback circuit to keep the body in homeostasis.
