Solution:

We know that:

  • If the x and y coordinate is positive, then the point will lie in quadrant I.
  • If the x coordinate is negative and the y-coordinate is positive, then the point will lie in quadrant II.
  • If the x and y coordinate is negative, then the point will lie in quadrant III.
  • If the x coordinate is positive and the y-coordinate is negative, then the point will lie in quadrant IV.

Given point: (9, -1):

  • This point has a positive x coordinate and a negative y-coordinate.
  • Thus, this coordinate lies in quadrant IV.

Given point: (-3, -10):

  • This point has a negative x and y-coordinate.
  • Thus, this coordinate lies in quadrant III.

Given point: (-1 1/3, 3 1/3):

  • This point has a negative x coordinate and a positive y coordinate.
  • Thus, this coordinate lies in quadrant II.

Given point: (-3 1/3, -1 1/3):

  • This point has a negative x and y-coordinate.
  • Thus, this coordinate lies in quadrant III.

Given point: (1/3, 2 1/3):

  • This point has a positive x and y coordinate.
  • Thus, this coordinate lies in quadrant I.

Given point: (1 1/3, -1 1/3):

  • This point has a positive x coordinate and a negative y-coordinate.
  • Thus, this coordinate lies in quadrant IV.
