In professional football, for example, Chelsea Football Club made revenue of £434.9 in 2021 and paid £163 million pounds to its athletes.

Barcelona in 2021 made a total revenue of £527 Million and paid £97 million to its athletes.

Within teams, players are paid according to their performance which in the case of strikers is the equivalent of goals scored and goals scoring opportunities created.
