FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON
Write examples of how Charlie is showing Dr. Nemur disrespect. How is this showing Charlie’s ""teenage years""?

Respuesta :

As Charlie got more intelligent after the experimental brain surgery, he saw an aspect of Dr. Nemur that he couldn't before. Although he discovered that many humans were not what they pretended to be on the outside, because this observation came to him first by studying Dr. Nemur's reaction to him especially after he got more intelligent, it provoked a certain ill-feeling within him for Dr. Nemur. Examples of how Charlie showed Dr. Nemur disrespect

On page 298, Charlie (after he had gotten intelligent and against the background painted above) writes:

"How was I to know that a respected pscyho-experimentalist like Nemure was unacquainted with Hindustani and Chinese? It's absurd when you consider the work that is being done in India and China today in the very field of his study."

Notice that he omits the prefix "Dr." in reference to Dr. Nemur's name.

On the same page He also writes:

"I asked Dr. Strauss how Nemur could refute Rahajamati's attack on his method and results if Nemur couldn't even read them in the first place."

From both excerpts, it is clear that Charlie is on a full-frontal assault on Dr. Nemur's intelligence.

In the last paragraph of the story, he writes to everyone and still manages to slight Dr. Nemur by saying:

...please, tell Dr. Nemur not to be such a grouch when people laugh at him and he would have more friends. It's easy to make friends if you let people laugh at you...Page 306
