If this was me personally I would choose photos that show the happiness and innocence you had as a child and explain how the difference is to how you are now. Ex: When I was a child my biggest fear was of the monster hiding underneath my bed, now I wonder if.... (put a fear that's more relevant to you today).
If you don't want to go for the approach and just want a nice photo of from when you were younger I think this is great.
