History has documented that on January 27, 1967, the launch pad when they were at Cape Kennedy during a preflight test for the mission that called Apollo 1 failed.

The mission was known to be the first and ever, major crewed flight of Apollo. It was said to be set out to supposed launch the next month.

Astronauts Virgil Grissom, Edward White and Roger Chaffee died due to a fire that occurred in the command module. A memorial in the moon was done to honor them.
