1. LINE GRAPHS: Line graphs are used when we compare two different number values. 1.1. Draw two graphs on the same set of axes showing the changes in heart rate of two boys. Jor and Thabo, as they run over a certain distance. 70 Distance run (m) John's heart rate Thabc's heart rate (beats per minute) (beats per minute) 0 60 100 75 80 200 85 90 400 100 110 800 120 1500 115 120 130

A line graph can show information about two or more data sets and is useful to compare them. In this example, you can compare the change in the heart rate of the two boys. You will find the graph in the attached files.

As the statement says, the line graphs can be used to compare results.

It is basically a chart showing a line connecting many data points.

It must contain two axes

→ Y ax ⇒ Dependent variable ⇒ In this example, it is the heart rate values

→ X ax ⇒ Independent variable ⇒ In this example, it is the number of times the measurements were taken.

So in this example, data about the change in heart rate was taken from two boys, John and Thabo.

Note about the data table: Since I do not know which value belongs to each boy, I drow a new table. You should use the data of your table to make a new graph.

When making the graph, you will see the difference between the boys and how the heart rate fluctuated as measurements were taken.

You can make conclusions about your results that are easier to see in the graph.

For instance, according to the attached graph, we could say that,

  • Thabo showed a more varying heart rate, with an extreme point at 1500 beats per minute.

  • Jhon showed a more constant heart rate that fluctuated between 70 and 120, with an extreme point of 400 beats/min.
