The Large food production corporations are making it more
and more difficult for family-run farms to survive in today's
market. In 1935, the United States had more than 5
million farms. Now, there are fewer than 1 million. Unlike
smaller farms, companies like Tyson can produce large
quantities of food at the same time. This allows them to
offer goods at lower prices and, therefore, draw more
consumers.
