One of the central message of Antigone is centered around actions of people and fate. The right to make her own choice based on free will made Antigone’s to take a decision by defying the will of the gods (Creon’s edict).
Looking at the book, Antigone decision to alter her fate stern from the fact that she is strong and exercise her free over her destiny.
Most times we are held back from things we want to do because of fear of the outcome of our disobedience but for Antigone, She knows that this action is a death penalty, but still did what she had to do for her brother. she knows that by fate, she had to die but she was determined to do the right thing.
No one know what our fate are, it can change at any time. Antigone was fated to live at the start of the play but then, her actions based on exercising her free will, changed her fate completely to death. Free will in one way or the other has influence over fate and destiny.
Antigone and Creon had their own individual choices made. Antigone knows the repercussion or her actions, she knows of her limited power, but still, she controlled her fate.
Creon even though was wise and intelligent, who was known to have infinite power could not control the deaths of his wife and children.
