The term "homeostasis" refers to a state of equilibrium. As well as MAINTAINING the organism's equilibrium.

Insulin levels in the body would rise. The pancreas releases glucagon to boost blood sugar levels when they fall. This equilibrium allows the cells to get enough energy while avoiding the nerve damage that can occur when blood sugar levels are constantly high.
