Answer/Explanation:
William Tell is a man who dared to refuse respect for the Herzog hat. William Tell was strong and capable with a sword as well as a skilled marksman.
Unfortunately, the man who ruled the land was not like William. The ruler, Albrecht Gessler, was greedy and cruel. He was also known for having very little skill as a marksman.
Gessler was intrigued by Tell's famed marksmanship, but resentful of his defiance, so he devised a cruel punishment. Tell and his son were both to be executed; however, he could redeem his life by shooting an apple off the head of his son Walter in a single attempt. Walter trusted his father that he won't killed him. William Tell split the apple with a bolt from his crossbow.
