The "Muffin Man" is actually named Frederick Thomas Linwood. He was known as England's first serial killer. He would lure children into dark alleys with muffins on strings attached to them. Once the children saw the muffin on the ground they would eventually try to grab it. As they got closer to the muffin, Linwood would drag the string closer and closer until he finally would trap them and kill them. He killed 15 children and 7 rival pastry chefs.
