My name is Klara and I'm from Sweden. On December 13th every year we have a festival called Santa Lucia. Lucia brings light in the dark winter. The oldest daughter in each house is Santa Lucia for the day. In the morning all the children go to their parents while they are sleeping. They wear white clothes and they carry candles. The girl who is Santa Lucia wears a crown with candles on her head. She wakes her parents with coffee and special yellow cakes called Lussekattor. Her sisters and brothers help her. People often ask me if the candles on the crown are real. Now they aren't real, but they are 8 electric lights instead. Boys don't wear candles, they have a tall hat instead. At school we choose a girl to be Santa Lucia for the day, and we all sing a special song. I like Santa Lucia day because my school always closes early on that day.
