the berlin wall was a symbol of the dividing of germany after ww2. this was a sign of the separation of communism and capitalism. after many protests, people took down the wall and berlin was a whole country once again. so, france, britain, soviet (USSR) and the u.s, all got a piece of land in germany after the war. after a little bit, france, britain, and u.s all conjoined their land together creating the capitalist west side. while ussr is over here with the communist east side. construction began on august 13, 1961 and destruction began on november 9, 1989.
