My answer to the problem is as follows:
Bror should factor out (x^2 + 3x + 2) using the quadratic formula and that will be (x + 2)(x + 1).
Then he will simply that [(x +2)(x + 1)]/(x + 2) becomes x + 1.
Therefore x + 1 = 0 will be x = -1.
