The 1850 Commitment, also called the Clay Commitment, was a legal package aimed at resolving the colonial issues arising out of the state of California.Among the commitments made was The Fugitive Slave Act (b), which would guarantee the Southerners to persecute their slaves even in northern states, free from slavery.
