In the second excerpt, the grinders complaint would be an illness that was caused due to the rigorous activities that were been carried out in the factories.

I know this due to the fact that this was during the industrial revolution era were different manual machines that needed human inputs were being used.

Other simple hand tools may have been responsible for this. Workers were involves in the use of the puddling furnace and a mechanical hammer in this excerpt for the creation of iron and steel during the revolution.
