I see two people drowning. One of them is my old chemistry professor who I know is on the verge of discovering a cure for cancer that will save millions. The other person drowning is my own mother, who is retired and probably will not be curing cancer any time soon.
Assuming I can only save one of the drowning people, which one should I save? Why?
