In order to answer this question, you have to know ... or find out ...
how many joules there are in one BTU, or how many BTU there are
in one joule.

I don't know those numbers.  It's pretty easy to find them in a few seconds,
by searching on-line.  You could easily do that.  But since I'm going to take
your points, you can just relax, and I'll go and look it up for you.

OK.  I'm back.  I found out that there are 1,055.06 joules in one BTU.

So

       (1,152 BTU) x (1,055.06 Joules/BTU)  =  1,215,429.12  joules

Answer: Option (d) is correct.

Explanation:

Given,  1,152 British thermal units

1 British thermal unit = 1055.06 joules

So, in 1,152 British thermal units there will be :

[tex]1152\times 1055.06 Joules=1215429.12 Joules=1.21542912\times 10^{8} Joules[/tex]

Hence, from the given options the closest answer is of option (d). So, option (d) is correct.
