One possible reason for the general tread could be the rise in population and the need to sustain oil production for items and objects dependent upon oil or creation or operation. 

It may be sustainable due do the dependence on oil already... Yet could change at any minute due to the use of anything new. 

Well, becoming more ecological in nature. Using less plastic and recycling more, getting off of conventional cars, getting more educated about even more techniques.

A) One possible reason for the trend that we see (an increase in the number of barrels of oil produced) could be the fact that population has also risen significantly since 1910. Moreover, we have also increased our reliance on oil products, such as gasoline and plastic.

B) This trend is not sustainable because of two reasons. First, oil is a non-renewable resource, which means that there is only a limited quantity of it. We will eventually run out of oil. Another reason is that the use of oil greatly pollutes the environment and contributes to global warming, which threatens to destroy the world as we know it.

C) There are several possible strategies. We could use electric cars as opposed to regular ones. We could also reduce our reliance on plastic products.
