If he can make 12 salads in 20 minutes and there are only 45 minutes available he can make 27 salads. 
  2 x 20 = 40
 20 / 4 = 5
40 + 5 = 45
 now do the same for 12.
  2 x 12 = 24
 12 / 4 = 3
24 + 3 =27
