Mendeleev constructed the periodic table of the elements that had been already discovered. However, in his periodic table, he included some gaps next to the already discovered elements.
He stated that these gaps are for the elements that had yet to be discovered. Based on these gaps, he also predicted the properties of these yet-to-be-discovered elements and then named them based on the same concept.
He named these predicted elements as eka-aluminium, eka-silicon, and eka-boron.
These elements were discovered later on and are now known as gallium, germanium and scandium.
He also predicted the atomic masses of these elements along with their properties.
