Jewish individuals have managed to persevere through many ways. Fighting in conflicts using weapons, hiding their identity and taking up a new one, seeking refugee in other nations or even even just their pure will to survive through moments in history like the concentration camps. As for why people single out certain groups there are a couple of reasons. One is fear, for example in 9/11 Islamaphobia in the US was higher than ever before out of fear that because Al-Qaeda were Islamic extremists, that other Muslims may have been as well. Hitler blamed the Jewish people because they were “cowards” and made Germany lose in WW1, which is a case of hatred towards a group. Another big factor could be belief. The Romans did not like Christians because they believed in a God other than the Roman Gods and did not want people to start believing in Christianity, which is more of wanting to maintain power in that case as religion was more prominent back then.
