During photosynthesis the conversion of:

  1. Energy => light energy to chemical energy
  2. Matter => CO₂ + H₂O ==> C₆H₁₂O₆ + O₂

Photosynthesis is the process in which inorganic molecules convert into organic molecules in presence of the sunlight. This process takes place in the chloroplast in green plants and algae.

In this process the conversion of matter and energy takes place:

  • Energy: As we know energy can not be destroyed or generated only transfer from one form to other. In this process, light energy converts into chemical energy stored in the molecular bond of the organic molecules.

  • Matter - It is also can not be created or destroyed according to the  Law of Conservation of Mass that also says that matter conserved the same amount of matter before and after. In photosynthesis, there is the input of matter is carbon dioxide and water and output is glucose molecule and oxygen
