The periodic table also has a special name for its vertical columns. Each column is called a group. The elements in each group have thesame number of electrons in the outer orbital. Those outer electrons are also called valence electrons.
The feature that is common to elements in the same column or group in the periodic table all have A. Same number of electrons in their outer shell, valence electrons. Due to this, they would posses similar properties in terms of chemically bonding with other atoms.
