Answer: The truth is that gold is not a currency because it doesn't meet the economic definition of “currency” and will never be able to in the modern world. It has been replaced with money which is what we use today as our currency (also gold is valued by currency or cost also by the rarity of this metal adds to its value for OUR currency and can 7 billion people own enough gold to use it? I don't think so)

we are not using gold as a medium of currency today because first of all we do not have plenty of gold to use it as currency.
In ancient times population was very less so at that time we use it as currency but today we have more than 7 billion people on earth
