The theory of evolution was first proposed by Charles Darwin. It states that evolution is based on the idea of survival of the fittest. This is better known as natural selection.
Natural Selection is the process by which a species will, over time adapt to its environment. This occurs because the organisms whose traits are not well adapted or useful for survival in the environment will not survive and therefore not be able to reproduce. Over time this will remove the traits of said individuals from the gene pool.
Regressive evolution is the process of evolution by which a species will discard unneeded traits. This idea goes hand in hand with the process of natural selection, and therefore supports the theory of evolution because they all include the purge of unused or negative traits from the gene pool.
