Answer:

Randall tends to act desperate, sweet talk his friends and paints himself in a good light.

Explanation:

At first he approaches Brandon and says he'll be late for work, therefore making Brandon think the $1.50 is necessary and will be used for a good thing. He says he's important to the a store to make Brandon think his being late will impact people other than Randall, and that's he's thinking of others rather than himself.

When Randall approaches Kim, he states how much he appreciates Kim and how he's his best friend, which creates a guilt trip for Kim. If he denies his request, then he seems like a bad best friend.

When he approaches Nate, he realizes that Nate doesn't know him well enough to know if he's irresponsible or not. Because Nate's only impression of him is a responsible person who worked hard on a project, Randall plays it up. He brings up good memories that will makes Nate see him in a good light and figure that he'll be payed back.
