Gene expression includes two major processes transcription and translation:
Transcription is the process in which RNA nucleotides find their complementary base on the DNA and are joined together to make a single-stranded RNA molecule.

Translation - The RNA molecule, generated called messenger RNA or mRNA acts as a messenger to decide which amino acid needs to be added to the peptide chain . The mRNA contains three-base sequences called codons, which tell the ribosome what specific amino acid needs to be added.
