They were the immigrants to a new area with the support of the government. They are also referred as the settlers in the new region.

Therefore, it can be concluded that Because they operated more like autonomous republics than the United States, the English colonies had a hard time understanding their unity. Each set out on its own course, which made achieving unification in the end quite challenging.
