The Hull House provided social services for immigrants.

Hull house came into being as a settlement in Chicago, Illinois, United States in the year  1889 by Jane Addams with the help of  Ellen Gates Starr to provide  accommodation, food, and medical services and education  for immigrants   of Italy, Irish, Germany, Greek,  Russian and the Jews.

The motto of the hull house was  “neighbors helping neighbors”and it lived to that purpose in helping the  immigrants become U.S. citizens by also teaching them the American  language and its  customs.

Through the hull house settlement, child labor  and women's suffrage were abolished, also worker's compensation increased.
