There are numerous American ideals found in the Declaration of Independence. The main one is that all men are entitled to certain rights, such as "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." This was something a lot of people believed during this time, of course, this did not exactly reach people of color or women though, primarily white men.
Another American ideal found in the Declaration of Independence is the fact that "all men are created equal." This can be kind of contradictory, along with the ideals above, as slavery definitely existed and the premise of "all men are created equal" did not exactly fit, but it was still a huge American ideal.
The last American ideal that can be found in the Declaration of Independence that I will talk about is the ability to alter or abolish the government. The idea of the government having too much power scared a lot of people during this time, because of how badly they were treated by Great Britain. The idea of the people altering or abolishing the government was sure to be put in the Declaration of Independence, so if the government were to abuse its power, the people could actually do something about it.
