A farmer plans to divide his land into not more than 36 plots to plant either banana tree or coconut tree on each plot. He decides that he will pant at least 20 banana trees and that there will be at least twice as many banana trees as coconut trees.
(a) Taking x to represent the number of banana trees and y represent the number of coconut trees, write down three inequalities, other than x ≥ 0 and y ≥ 0, which satisfy the above conditions.
(b)On a sheet of paper, show, unshaded, the region satisfied by the inequalities (a).
(c)A plot of land used to plant a banana trees has an area of 16m2 and a plot of land used to plant a coconut tree has an area of 4m2. Use your graph to estimate the maximum possible land area that farmer has.
