The distance from Colin's home to work is 18 miles.
Colin's car uses one gallon of petrol every 45.2 miles.

What is the total cost?

The total cost is the sum of the amount spent on petrol and the amount spent to use the car park.

• Cost to use the car park = £3.50 x 5 = £17.50
• Total distance covered in a week = 18 miles x 5 x 2 = 180 miles
• Total gallons used in a week = 180 / 45.2 = 3.98 gallons
• Gallons to liter = 3.98 x 4.546 = 18.10
• Cost in gallons = 18.10 x 136.9 = 2478.37
• Pence to pounds = 2478.37 / 100 = £24.78

Total cost = £24.78 +  £17.50 = £42.28
