Many suffered with hygiene the trip was very long their was so many people deaths happened oftener
The reason why they left Italy was because they wanted escape poverty. It was very crowded also too many people on the bottom deck of the ship called (Steerage), smelly conditions, and provided poor The living conditions for the Italian immigrants that moved to the United States was that lived in the slums, that were crowded together with construction camps, or railroad wagons. The living conditions for the Italians had tended to be overcrowded and filthy. They also ate less food in desperate attempt to save money.
