Area of a rectangle is L*W so for only the shaded bits of the rectangle the length (1/7*4) would be 4/7 and the width would be (1/3*2) so 2/3. then you would multiply them togehter by finding multiplying the bottoms togther and the tops together (4*2)/(7*3) this gives 8/21. Hope this helps!!
