North and South just finished fighting a war that cost 750,000 Amer mention that millions of dollars of damage and destruction to cities, towns and farms. How does the country move forward? What common ground do they have to move forward on?
there are many different things that did change after the north and south fought. one of the things that did change was the abolition of slavery. but during the end of the war, there was a reconstruction period (1865-1877) which changed a lot of white farmers lives. they had to work on cotton farms to now provide for their family (some labor was sugar farms). the common ground now is having african americans now be equal.
