Need help please. The question about which quote from the text to support the inference. Thank you.
Read the passage below.
From Alaska: Living in the Dark Written by Krista Garver
Think for a minute about how life is different in winter compared to the summer. When do people have more energy? In what season do they go to bed earlier and sleep later?
We are naturally diurnal creatures. This means that we are active during the day and sleep at night. We have “internal clocks” that use sunlight to tell us when we should be awake and when we should be asleep. So, what happens in Alaska, where it is dark for a long period in the winter?
Since Alaska is close to the North Pole, it has very extreme seasons. Barrow, Alaska is the northernmost city in the United States. There, the sun sets in mid-November and does not rise again until the end of January. This is called the polar night. In other parts of the state, the winter days are not quite so short. In Fairbanks, the shortest day of the year has close to four hours of daylight.

Which quotes from the text support the inference that people in Barrow, Alaska sleep more in the winter? Check all that are true.

a)"This means that we are active during the day and sleep at night."
b) "Since Alaska is close to the North Pole, it has very extreme seasons."
c) "There, the sun sets in mid-November and does not rise again until the end of January."
d) "In Fairbanks, the shortest day of the year has close to four hours of daylight."

Respuesta :

Answer: a)"This means that we are active during the day and sleep at night."

Explanation:

The text mentions that human beings are diurnal creatures which means that we prefer to be active during the day and then sleep at night.

In Alaska, the winters can be dark for a long period of time such that some areas like Barrow may not see the sun for some months. What this means therefore, is that since humans prefer to sleep during the night, they will be sleeping more in Alaska where it is dark for longer in winter.
