Some believe schools' primary goal is to civilize indigenous children, and others that it has been to eradicate indigenous cultures in America. There were eventually more than a hundred schools in the United States and enrollment was obligatory. In a recorded situation, parents were incarcerated who refused to permit their children to be taken by school officers.
