FDR's reasoning was effective. When FDR made the Fourteen Points speech to America, many were persuaded by his reasons to go to war against the Central Powers. Giving reasons such as to save the world for democracy and attacking Germany for using unrestricted submarine warefare as a crime against humanity (which is true). The american people now were ready and furious for war, this is huge because FDR just broke over two hundred years of American isolationism.
