b) $x^{2}$ + 8x - 10 =0

x = $\frac{-(8) +\sqrt{(8)^{2} - 4(1)(-10)}}{2(1)}$  or  $\frac{-(8) -\sqrt{(8)^{2} - 4(1)(-10)}}{2(1)}$

x = -4 + $\sqrt{26}$ or -4 - $\sqrt{26}$
