The main focus of the media was high morale and support for the war effort. In contrast, the television news networks had a bleaker view of the war in Vietnam. After the Tet Offensive in 1968—which the public saw as a defeat—reports turned unfavorable toward the war effort.

T.V played a big role in people’s perception of the war. It showed Americans the raw truth to what was happening in Vietnam, which the government was not telling. Journalists also play a key role in effecting the public’s opinion on the war by giving bleak opinions and digging the real dirt (news) behind the war. Both of these devices tremendously changed the opinions of many to stay in the war.
