First of all, federalism is a system of government that practices separation of powers. This means that there is a government for each state and a national governments as a whole. As a result, each U.S state has its own courts.

Federalists are with this idea because it gives a good check-and-balance system over all the parties. It prevents centralization of power, so each state could work on its own economy while working with the national government. In a nutshell, no one gets left out and everyone will have a more immediate action.

Anti-federalists fear that the state governments are given too much power. They say that the Constitution give more power to the feudal courts in expense of the state and national courts.

They argued in favor of separation of powers: the division of the government into three separate branches whose powers balance each other. They felt this would be necessary and helpful. On the other hand, Anti-Federalists were fearful that the separation of powers would not equally balance power. They did not believe that this separation could occur in a fair way.
